Rayform vs Foxglove
Log storage, visualisation and search for robotics data, versus Rayform's 3D reconstruction and training-ready slices of the same recordings.
What Foxglove does.
Foxglove created MCAP, the open log format used across ROS 2 and NVIDIA Isaac, and builds a platform to store, visualise, search and curate robotics data from cloud to air-gapped deployments, with an open-source SDK for logging.
They work together. Rayform reads the MCAP files Foxglove tools write, and processed segments can be exported back to MCAP to inspect in Foxglove.
Where they are strong
- The reference tools for robotics logs: MCAP, a capable visualiser and an MIT-licensed SDK.
- Search and curation across large fleets of recordings.
- A free tier and clear pricing.
How Rayform differs
- Foxglove stores and shows your logs as they were recorded. Rayform reconstructs the place in 3D over time and aligns it with the logs.
- Rayform marks interactions on the timeline and cuts recordings into segments around them, ready to export as training episodes.
- Rayform freezes selections into versioned slices and exports them in the formats trainers and simulators load.

Choose Foxglove when
- You need to debug and monitor robots from their logs.
- Visualisation and log search are the main job.
Choose Rayform when
- You want to train on your recordings, not only look at them.
- You need 3D scenes, interactions and robot state aligned and exported to your trainer.
